Call it a passion. Call it a desire that won't quit. David Tennyson's debut CD --Who Knew -- is the product of a whirlwind three years of commuting from his home in Canada to Nashville, Tennessee and Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The CD's richness and distinct sound come from a group of top session players from Nashville and Mussel Shoals. Playing bass on the CD is Gary Baker, best known for writing "I'm Already There" for Lonestar and "I Swear" for All for One, as well as songs for Leanne Rimes, Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees. Baker co-wrote one of the songs on Tennyson's CD - "As I Am." The other co-writer - and arranger for this CD - was pianist Jerry Williams, former bandleader of the Donny & Marie daytime talk show. Also contributing to this CD is George Teren, co-writer of Tim McGraw's hit "Real Good Man". Teren cowrote Tennyson's first single "Asking For The Moon" which has been playing on radio throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. His remake of "The Letter" and new single "Who Knew" have benn playing on Country radio throughout the U.S. Lastly, cowriter Eddie Kilgallon, keyboardist and bandmember of the country duo Montgomery Gentry adds the beautiful ballad "By Heart". Who Knew benefits from Destiny Child's vocal consultant, Kim Wood Sandusky, who created the smooth sound to this country/pop album. Producer Bob Engemann, formerly of The Lettermen has added an interesting flavour to this CD by having Tennyson perform three cover tunes - an uncommon but very successful trademark for The Lettermen, whose albums only contained cover tunes. Who Knew was recorded at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, putting Tennyson in good company with such well-known artists such as Tom Jones, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding Jr. and more recently Martina McBride whose photos cover the walls inside the studio.
