Welcome! I hope you will enjoy my debut album "From Elizabeth". My goal was to create an album with no redundant album cuts--just beautiful singing and very catchy radio-friendly pop songs that gradually transition into classical music with a contemporary feel. It's a little like The Moody Blues "Days of Future Passed" album. I love that album! Throughout my life I have always been influenced by both pop and classical music.
I grew up in New York State listening to '80's pop music--Madonna Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, etc. I also wrote my own pop music and I dreamed of becoming a pop singer and songwriter. So I was very surprised when my school music teacher told me that I have an opera voice and should study opera singing. I had never even seen an opera before. However I eventually started studying classical singing and instead of joining a band as a teenager I went off to study classical singing at Indiana University School of Music a top conservatory (which explains why I still don't have a nose ring or a tattoo). Now I sing opera professionally in New York City alongside finalists from the Metropolitan Opera's National Council auditions. I also sang on an opera tour of Greece with Sherrill Milnes (a famous opera singer) conducting. But through it all I continued to write pop songs and I always dreamed of finding a way to combine the two musical styles. This album is the realization of that dream. I brought my pop songs to cutting-edge music producers Anthony Resta (Elton John) and Scott Jacoby (John Legend) and I'm thrilled to say that they are now very radio-friendly. And I've added some contemporary productions to the classical and opera arias to emphasize the natural rhythms and hooks in this music while still staying true to the original style. I'm so excited to announce this release and I hope you enjoy the album!! |
